Cable and Wiring
TNS designs, installs, maintains, and modifies inter-building and intra-building cable/wiring networks for all University-owned and select University affiliated properties. Cable/wiring projects tend to fall into one of four categories:
- TNS infrastructure upgrades where the expense is paid through central funds
- New construction and renovations where the expense is charged to a particular project budget
- Occupant requested upgrades initiated by an administrative or academic unit with the expenses charged to a departmental budget. Depending on the nature of the request, both installation and recurring charges may be applicable.
- Private fiber installations and use. Use of University fiber is considered "private" if the use of the fiber creates a dedicated point-to-point link between separate buildings to create a private network.
TNS System Maintenance Policy also applies to Cable and Wiring designs.
