Cable and Wiring
In support of voice, video and data systems, TNS will design, install, maintain, and modify inter-building and intra-building cable/wiring for all University-owned and select University affiliated properties. TNS will only install infrastructure it designs, and will only maintain infrastructure it installs (unless it was installed by a third party coordinated or managed by TNS). Additionally, cable/wiring projects tend to fall into one of four categories:
- TNS infrastructure upgrades which are cabling/ wiring projects where the expense is funded through a TNS budget and are centrally funded
- New construction and renovations which are cabling/wiring costs projects associated with University construction and renovation projects with the expenses charged to a particular Project budget
- Occupant requested upgrades which are cabling/wiring projects initiated by an administrative or academic unit with the expenses charged to a Departmental budget. Depending on the nature of the request, both installation and recurring charges may be applicable.
- Private fiber installations and use. Use of University fiber is considered "private" if the use of the fiber creates a dedicated point-to-point link between separate buildings to create a private network.
