Voice Over IP (VoIP)
Telephone type services, at the University Park campus, are primarily delivered through a Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunications system. The University has adopted VoIP technology since it offers greater efficiency and opportunity for reducing the costs to deliver voice services to University departments and colleges.
Initial VoIP dial tone rates at University Park are approximately 38% lower than the standard dial tone rates for Centrex-based service. A separate, one-time, purchase of a VoIP phone is also required to receive this service. The new IP phone sets offer a full range of intelligent communication capabilities designed to take advantage of the power of the University's network.
If you have a question about this service or would like to make a request to add, change or terminate this service please contact TNS at (814) 865-1696 or submit your request through the Service Inquiry Form.
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Analog
The VoIP Analog service can replace phone lines that are used by fax machines with an equivalent phone line provided by the VoIP system, while maintaining the existing telephone number. VoIP Analog service may also be used to replace the legacy telephone service used by common analog telephones (also known as "tap sets"), cordless analog phones, and other devices that currently require an analog telephone line. The VoIP Analog service works with the University's copper wiring facilities.
