University Park Voice Mail & Single Digit Menu (Octel Based)

For those users who have not converted to the VoIP based voice services, the "Octel" based voicemail and Single Digit Menu (SDM) services, available at the University Park Campus, supports those users receiving voice services via the legacy administrative Centrex phone service. Under this service, a customer could have a traditional voice mail box associated with their phone number. In addition, a customer can utilize this service to establish a single digit menu in order for callers to be routed to other mailboxes or staff.

If you have a question about this service or would like to make a request to add, change or terminate this service please contact TNS at (814) 865-1696 or submit your request through the Service Inquiry Form.

Custom-Designed SDM´s

TNS will work with departments to custom-design the most effective SDM application. Custom designed SDMS can have up to 1 Main Menu with 8 selections, then each of the 8 selections can be divided in to a sub-menu with 8 more selections and so on, and so on with different voice announcements that may be recorded in your attendants´ voice to be played to callers.

Additionally, different menu greetings can be played to the caller based on the time of day, and day of the week. By configuring a unique collection of features in to the SDM application, callers are routed to a mailbox greeting and sub-menu that is appropriate based on the time of day they are calling or the actual day of the week.

"Voice Form SDM´s" can also be custom-designed to provide a means of collecting information from a caller. The prompts in a Voice Forms mailbox are the messages recorded in the mailbox. The Voice Forms mailbox can contain up to 60 scripted prompts. The prompts are played to the caller with pauses to provide an opportunity to respond to each question. When a Voice Forms mailbox is called, the first prompt is played followed by a "beep." The caller´s response is recorded. When the caller presses "#," the next prompt is played until all prompts have played. At the completion of the prompts, the responses are combined into one message and sent to a separate mailbox (called a "Divert Mailbox") for transcription. The responses are played back without the scripted prompts. During playback, each complete response is played with short gaps between the segments of the response.
