Voice Sysytem Services

Centrex Based Legacy Voice

For those users who have not converted to the VoIP based voice services, legacy Centrex voice services are still supported at the University Park Campus. Customers should note that Merlin and Meridian devices which may be used in support of the legacy Centrex voice services are no longer supported or maintained by TNS. Delivery of this type of voice service should be limited to simple touch-tone phones and fax machines.

If you have a question about this service or would like to make a request to add, change or terminate this service, please contact TNS at (814) 865-1696 or submit your request through Service Inquiry Form  Locked Content.

Caller ID Features & Codes

The Caller ID Service enables you to display the calling party telephone number on your Caller ID box (providing the sending Telephone Company is able to supply this information).

Standard features related to the Caller ID service:

Anonymous Call Rejection allows you to automatically stop certain calls from ringing on your phone. The calls stopped are "restricted" and would normally be displayed as "P" or "Private" on your Caller ID device - meaning that the calling party did not send you their calling number for display on your Caller ID device. When Anonymous Call Rejection is activated, the party making such a call to you would hear, "The number you are calling does not accept calls that cannot be identified by Caller ID, please hang up and unblock your number and call back. The caller will be able to reach you only by re-dialing without restricting display of their number.

  • To Activate Anonymous Call Rejection: Dial 172
  • To Deactivate Anonymous Call Rejection: Dial 187

Per-Call Blocking, when activated by you on your dial tone line, provides for blocking of your telephone number from showing up on the Caller ID display of the party you are calling. This feature works on a per-call basis and therefore, must be activated prior to each call you make.

  • To Activate and Deactivate Per-Call Blocking: Dial 183

Non-Standard features related to the Caller ID service include:

Permanent Caller ID Line Blocking, as opposed to Per-Call Blocking, provides for permanent blocking of your telephone number from showing up on the display of someone with Caller ID service for every call you make. Unlike the Per-Call Blocking feature that is standard with the Caller ID Service, there is no need to activate it via a code prior to each call. Permanent Caller ID Line Blocking is not a standard Caller ID Service feature, however, the feature can be added to your Caller ID Service upon request.
