University Park Voice Mail System
First time user instructions for setting up a voice mailbox

NOTE:   BOLD TEXT indicates user action required.

1. Dial the Voice Mail access number:  5-7000
2. Listen for the prompt:
   

   "Please enter your ID Number."
   Enter your assigned 6-digit ID Number
   

3. Listen for the prompt:

   "Please enter a new Security Code for your mailbox. Security Codes must be between 4 and 10 digits in length. Valid digits are 0 through 9. New Security Codes must be different from the current and previous Security Code and may not match the mailbox digits. To maintain system security you are required to change your Security Code on a regular basis. Enter your new 4-digit Security Code, then press #."
   
   Enter your new 4-digit Security Code, then press #.
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice (##).
   (Your new Security Code must be a minimum of 4-digits.)
   

4. Listen for the prompt:

   "To confirm, reenter your new 4-digit Security Code, then press #."
   Re-enter your new 4-digit Security Code, then press #.
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice (##).

5. Listen for the prompt:

   "Please record YOUR NAME. To begin recording, press 1. To end recording, press #."
   
   Press 1 to record your name.
   Listen for the beep and speak your first and last name.
   
   Press # to end recording.
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice: ##
   
   The system will play back your recorded name.
   Press # to save your new name or Press 1 to re-record
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice: ##
   

6. Listen for the prompt:

   "Please record a PERSONAL GREETING for your mailbox. Callers will hear this greeting whenever you're unable to answer your phone. To begin recording press 1."

   Press 1 to record your greeting.
   Listen for the beep and record your new greeting.

   Example greeting: "Hello, this is your name. I'm either away from my desk or on the other line. Please leave a detailed message after the voice prompt and I will get back to you."

   Press # to end recording.
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice: ##

   The system will playback your recorded greeting.

   Press # to save your new greeting or 1 to re-record.
   Note: If you are using a Merlin telephone, you must press the # sign twice: ##

7. You have now successfully set up your voice mailbox by establishing a security code, recording a mailbox name and a personal mailbox greeting.
8. To exit your mailbox, press 9 9. The system will say "GOOD-BYE."
