Authorization Codes at University ParkDescriptionAuthorization Codes (Auth Codes) provide a way to track and bill back long distance and international calls when mutiple users share a single telephone. Auth Codes also allow a user to make long distance and international calls from a telephone that is restricted to local or on-campus calling. By dialing the Authorization Code Access Number (175) followed by the seven-digit Auth Code, the line is (temporarily) changed to a level where a long distance and international calling can be completed and charged against the Auth Code. The following one-time charges apply to Auth Codes: Auth Card Assignment $5.00 Any calls placed using an Auth Code will be billed against the budget associated with that code. Usage is billed at the exact cost charged to Penn State by AT&T, reflecting the discounted rates according to the current Penn State contract. For current usage rates, see Long Distance Direct Dial Rates.
