Unity Voice Mail Service

Access Number: 865-4090

Unity is the voice mail and unified messaging system designed for the Voice over IP (VoIP) service at Penn State. Unity voice messaging capabilities allow Penn State VoIP subscribers to listen and reply to their messages, forward voice messages to other VoIP subscribers, record and send messages, and customize settings such as personal greetings.

Only those who have VoIP service are able to subscribe to Unity voice mail service.

Features:

The primary features of a basic Unity voice mail subscriber account are:

  • Call Answering and 30 minutes of message storage for one University Park campus directory number
  • Intra-system messaging, whereby voice messages may be created and distributed to one or more VoIP Unity subscribers

Other Unity voice mail features include:

  • Message forwarding to another VoIP voice mail subscriber
  • Reply to message to another VoIP voice mail subscriber
  • Express message desk service
  • Zero-out to a 5-digit University Park Directory number
  • Multiple greetings (daytime, after hours, holiday)
  • Future Delivery
  • Distribution Lists
  • Change Password
  • Record Name
  • Record personal greeting
  • Up to one-hour worth of voice mail storage.  However, when a mailbox contains 43 minutes worth of voice mail, a warning will be issued at sign-in to alert the user to delete some messages.  After 48 minutes worth of saved or unheard voice mail, the user will be prohibited from sending any messages within the Unity system and instructed to delete some messages.  At 60 minutes worth of saved or unheard voice mail, the user will no longer be able to send OR RECEIVE voice mail.  At this point the user must delete some messages to restore functionality to the voice mailbox
Costs / Obtaining Service:

Unity's low monthly charge, of $2.50 per month per user mailbox, is a recurring charge for basic call answering voice mail, and on top of that, there is no usage rate accrued for the Unity basic voice mail service.

Only those who have VoIP service are able to subscribe to Unity voice mail service.
