Authorization Codes at University Park

Authorization Codes (Auth Codes) provide a way to track and bill back long distance and international calls. It allows a user to make long distance and international calls from a telephone that is restricted to local or on-campus calling. By dialing the Authorization Code Access Number (175) followed by the seven-digit Auth Code, the line is (temporarily) changed to a level where a long distance call can be completed and charged against the Auth Code. Only by using an Auth Code can long distance calls be completed from the restricted station.

  • System Wide Auth Codes can be used from any University Park telephone to change its restricted status and allow a toll call to be made and charged against the Auth Code.

Requesting or Canceling and authorization code:

All requests for services or cancellations require a Telecommunications Service Requisition (TSR) . The college or department must complete the TSR by obtaining proper authorizing signatures. Dialing instructions and the authorization code will be forwarded via e-mail to the requesting party.

Initial Charges and Billing:

The college or department will be billed a one-time assignment charge of $5.00 and a one-time feature change charge of $2.00 for each requested authorization code on the TSR. Usage fees and call detail will be sent as part of the ITS statements itemized by the name associated with the Authorization code billed against the budget associated with that code.
