Internet Protocol Address Assignment

Description:

TNS manages and assigns IP address space. One aspect of maintaining this address space is the tracking of the administrative, technical and security contacts for every subnet in use at Penn State.

The Administrative Contact is the person responsible for administrative and policy concerns for machines using the assigned subnet, and is also the secondary contact with TNS for changes in the domain name system.

The Technical Contact is the person responsible for technical matters for the assigned subnet such as assigning the host part of the Internet address, and is also the primary contact with TNS for changes in the domain name system.

The Security Contact is the person responsible for the security matters for the assigned subnet such as representing the organization at computer and network security meetings and insuring that University computer and network security policies are followed.

This service is available to any Penn State organization and requires a TNS backbone connection. An Application for a Penn State Subnet is required.
