Satellite Uplink Service

Telecommunications & Networking Services operates and maintains a broadcast quality Ku band satellite uplink. A satellite uplink is the link from the earth station up to the satellite. An uplink can be used to distribute LIVE or TAPED news, sporting events, teleconferencing, interviews, or classes to satellite receive sites using domestic or international satellites. This service provides transmission of analog video and audio using satellite transponders and provides for national and international distribution. The service is available to University and non-University customers.

If you have a question about this service or would like to make a request for this service please contact TNS at (814) 865-1036 or submit your request through the service inquiry form (Service Inquiry Form Locked Content).

Satellite Downlink Design Service

Downlinks enable the viewing of "public domain" free satellite teleconferences offered by various programming sponsors, and are shown via satellite analog C or KU Band. C and Ku-Band dishes are the 7 to 10 foot diameter dishes that rotate and can be pointed to designated target satellites in geostationary (meaning they follow the same point on the earth as it rotates) orbits. TNS will design satellite downlink systems and install designed system at all campus locations. Maintenance will be provided on TNS designed and installed systems.

If you have question about this service or would like to make a request to add, change or terminate this service please contact TNS at (814) 865-6580 or submit your request through the service inquiry form (Service Inquiry Form Locked Content).
