Paging Service

Effective June 30th, 2008, the one-way Radio Paging Service offered by ITS at the University Park campus will be discontinued. The service was initially created a decade ago to provide University departments and organizations with economical localized paging capabilities. The discontinuation of the ITS Radio Paging Service is due to rising operational costs and the growth of commercial service availability, particularly in light of the small number of groups still using this service. Organizations that currently utilize the ITS Radio Paging Service are encouraged to contact their ITS Consultant at http://css.its.psu.edu/cs/itsanalysts.html to discuss alternate commercial radio paging service options.

Sending Verbal pages (Tone & Voice pagers)
  1. Dial the University Park Paging Service telephone number: 5-3000 (865-3000 or +1 814 865 3000 when calling from locations other than U.P.).
  2. After the voice prompt and the "tone," enter the pager number you wish to page.
  3. After a "ring" and a "tone", speak your message (up to 20 seconds long).
  4. You will hear a tone and a voice say "Thank you."
  5. You may now hang up

You can add special code numbers to the telephone number to have special meaning between you and the party you are paging (and vice versa).
